Tulips in the White House Gardens

This photograph shows a blanket of tulips growing in a White House garden, likely on the South Lawn, during the Lyndon B. Johnson administration. The flowers were captured in May 1966. Substantial ornamental gardening was introduced to the White House gardens by President John Quincy Adams, and now flowers bloom throughout the grounds.
